When is the Edmonton Brick Tournament?
The Western Selects 08s will travel to Edmonton on Saturday, June 30th
Sunday, July 1st is an exhibition game.The tournament games begin on Monday July 1st and concludes with a skills competition and the championship game on Sunday afternoon July 8th.
How many games does the Brick tournament offer?
There are six Round Robin games. Depending on the team's finish, there are 1-2 games in the playoff round and a championship game.

Who is eligible to tryout?
The Western Selects Brick program now has the Pacific and Rocky Mountain districts (Washington excepted) Any player who lives in this region is eligible to tryout and be considered a local player. Players from outside our jurisdiction are considered "import players". Every Brick team is allowed to roster a maximum of three import players.
Why import players?
The Edmonton Brick tournament organizers want as many elite players on the continent to attend their tournament to make for the most competitive and skilled hockey event. Many top players do not live within the confines of one of the fourteen Brick team regions. These players have an opportunity to play at the tournament via a recruitment process as an "import player" or by attending tryouts for any Brick jurisdiction team.
How many players will be selected on the Western Selects Brick team?
We expect a 16-17 player roster. 9 Forwards...5-6 Defensemen....Two Goaltenders.
What tournaments is the team attending?
June 14-17 North American Hockey Classic in Winnipeg
July 1-8 Edmonton International Brick Tournament in Alberta, Canada
How does my son or daughter attend tryouts?
After attending the pre-tryout clinics, players will be contacted and invited on an individual basis.
Why do I need a temporary release to tryout?
For clinics, no. For the tryouts, yes. It is a California State policy. All players, while still in season, must have a temporary release to attend tryouts with another program before May 1st. Players must be members in good standing with their home club. Request a temporary release from your club registrar and have it forwarded to calbrickteam@gmail.com
Can I play for a different Brick team instead of the Western Selects Brick Team?
Yes, but under strict tournament policy conditions. No Western Region player can play for another Brick team unless he or she is granted a release/waiver by the California Brick program. No release/waiver will be granted to any player who did not attend a local clinic or tryouts. If a player attends tryouts and is not selected on the team, a waiver to play for another Brick team will be granted. If a player is offered a spot on the Western Selects roster and elects to not accept, no waiver will be granted. Likewise any player from an already established Brick jurisdiction cannot play for Western Selects (or any other Brick program) unless they have been properly released from their local Brick program.
My player is an 09 birth year. Can he or she tryout?
The Brick team is for 2008 birth year players.
